Debut Management, Inc is casting its next stage production. AFTER THE WALK- Auditions will be held on Saturday February 21, 2009. Produced by Dr. Kenneth R. Hamilton After Walk Summary Faythe and Maxwell Roberts have worked to rebuild their marriage and their faith after an adulterous relationship invades their family and causes them to question God in the long awaited sequel, After the Walk. Just when Faythe and her husband seem to be making ground with God another obstacle enters their lives and shakes their Christian foundation. A mystery woman truly puts their marriage to the test and the man who took their daughter’s life is released from prison and is determined to revisit his past. In Before the Walk, Faythe falls prey to the desires of her heart and ultimately lost her daughter in the process. In After the Walk the tables are turned. Her pastor and brother, Franklin Scott is the Pastor of Zion Baptist Church where he continues to try to keep his family and community together while leading a congregation of people who don’t always see the bigger picture. Franklin tries to keep the balance between doing the right thing and standing strong on his faith even at the risk of being unpopular and going against his sister. .His wife, Kim finds that being the First Lady isn’t everything she hoped it would be. . After the Walk is the story of temptation and forgiveness. Like each of us, the characters must decide if they can apply God’s principles in a world where revenge and misfortune seems to prevail. Non Union- Pay After the Walk Character Summary Faythe: 30s- AA- A young woman who inspite of her commitment to live a holy life occasionally falls short. She is a committed wife and maintains a very close tie with her brother Franklin who is also her friend and pastor. CAST – Keva Moolanaar Brown Maxwell: 30’s AA- Faythe’s husband. A handsome, strong man who has spent years pretending he was saved hoping it would really happen for him. He has a good heart and is often misunderstood by the tough exterior he tries to portray. Those who truly know him, sees right through it. CAST- Shammah Solomon Franklin: 30s AA- Always the consummate optimist and deeply committed to his faith. He is the one most likely to do the right thing even when it’s not popular. He has no idea he is as handsome as he is. Most mistake his gentle spirit as flirtatious. CAST – Andre Davis Kim: 30’s AA- Lawyer and Franklin’s wife. In spite of her extensive education, she is the one who always gets right to the point and “keeps it real”. She is a loyal and faithful friend and wife but she knows her husband is naïve and easy prey for some. CAST- Kelly Downing Kahlil- 30s- AA – An educator ex con who as served a prison sentence for the accidental murder of his mistress’s daughter. He is an ex- muslim who is now a Christian. Once protrayed as the villain, he is now the story hero who tries to mend the fences of a broken past. CAST- Frederick Salmon Smitty: 50’s AA- He owns the local tavern/restaurant which is the place where everyone goes to finds comfort. Smitty is unpretentious and wise beyond his years but has a strict don’t ask don’t tell policy. He holds the community together. Robyn: 30s AA- Incredibly sexy and feisty. An aspiring vocalist with an amazing voice who will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Her personality spans the entire spectrum from the one you love to the one you love to hate. Sandy: 30s (open ethnicity) a local girl who hangs out in Smitty’s. Most people have no idea what she does for a living so they assume she is the town hooker. Miss Ronnie: 40’s AA- The tough, take no prisoners choir director. She is a little unkept and eccentric but the master of her trade. Sis Connie: 40s A – The church, Mariah Carey wannabe. She wants all the leads in the choir but can’t carry a tune. An absolute sensation on the grid iron, he has the speed and power of a young Lawrence Taylor and the field charisma of Ray Lewis, Dante is the real deal. He leads a flawless defensive squad that utterly annihilates opponents. Dante has the respect and admiration of the whole state. College scouts and journalist are vying for his attention, but Dante is a troubled young man with a grieving heart. He's been personally affected by the growing pandemic of youth violence. Dante's 16 year old eyes have witnessed too much. He cares about the plight of his people but feels overwhelmed with the crisis. His father, Granville Jackson an urban Donald Trump in training, realizes there's a fortune to be made in this growing pandemic. He starts the first hip hop funeral home complete with rapping preachers and cubic zirconium laced caskets. His business is based on the twin principles of self-indulgence and materialism. Instead of grieving loss and reevaluating life decisions, the services are a wild party of boos and auctioning the deceases possessions. The business becomes absurdly popular and makes millions. Feelings of betrayal overcome Dante. He feels trapped and is determined to stop his father's exploitation. He makes a painful decision to rise up against the man he loves, his father. Dante attacks with the same relentless determination, killer attitude, and innovative strategy he used to dismantle offenses on the football field. Dante eventually boldly applies his superb leadership skills to the whole city inspiring hundreds, but taking a stand comes at a cost. Will Dante ultimately succeed or will he become another number in the growing statistic of youth violence in America? This is a story about victory against insurmountable odds. Smart and extremely sassy. Tired, beaten by life¢s disappointments. She speaks with biting sarcasms and insightful pessimism. Luscious Harris Esq: LEAD. 60s. Black. Very distinguished, powerful and extremely persuasive. Could sell ice cubes to an Eskimo. Morgan Freeman type. Tyshawn: Late teens/ early 20s. Black. Wanna be hip hop gangsta type.
